How Loooms began

Through every role and routine, the saree remained a constant.

Loooms began with two women and a shared love for sarees. Once academicians and now corporate professionals, we have lived through different worlds, roles and routines. Through all of them the saree has stayed with us; not simply as traditional attire, but as something remarkably versatile. Formal when it needs to be. Effortless and casual when we want it to be. Festive, elegant, experimental and, with a little imagination, wonderfully modern.

Over the years we began noticing something else. India has an extraordinary vocabulary of weaves, created across regions, communities and generations. Some are celebrated and instantly recognisable. Others are slowly disappearing from our wardrobes and our conversations, even as the artisans and weaving traditions behind them continue to evolve. We wanted to rediscover those stories.

And that became Loooms. We celebrate these weaves not as relics of the past, but as living traditions; evolving in colour, design, texture, and in the ways women choose to wear them.

Worn your way

Because a saree doesn’t have to wait for an occasion.

  • Wear one to work.
  • Wear one to dinner.
  • Wear it with a traditional blouse, or an unexpected shirt.
  • Dress it up. Dress it down.
  • Wear it because it carries a story or simply because you love how you feel in it.

Who it’s for

Sarees to be worn, loved, collected and passed on.

For the lifelong saree collector and the woman buying her first meaningful weave. For the professional, the teacher, the artist, the entrepreneur, the homemaker, the student;and every woman who finds her own way of making six yards her own.
